Welcome to EITA-B&M 2013

Invitation

The EITA-B&M 2013, the 3rd EITA Business and Management Workshop, will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York  (駐紐約台北經濟文化辦事), New York city, U.S.A.. The theme for the EITA-B&M 2013 workshop is "Recent Advances in Financial Engineering and Services". Please visit the EITA-B&M 2013 website for more conference details.

Financial Engineering (FE) is a multidisciplinary field relating to the creation of new financial instruments and strategies. It has become an important subject area in modern finance due to the complexity in financial products and technology advances in the financial industry. Financial expertise is key in today's fast-paced, volatile global business environment.

FE serves a crucial function in financial services. It is the process of employing financial economics, information technology, and fundamental sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics to make pricing, hedging, trading and portfolio management decisions. FE also uses tools from engineering (e.g. differential equation and Fourier transform) and statistics (e.g. distributions and probabilities). As a result, to successfully carry out FE functions, we need integrated efforts from experts of many areas.

FE can be applied to many different types of currencies and pricing options. These include equity, fixed income such as bonds, commodities such as oil or gold, as well as derivatives, swaps, futures, forwards, options, and embedded options. Today's FE is an essential part of the financial industry, as risk management has become an essential part of today's economy. Large technology companies such as IBM now actively participate risk management businesses. Top finance schools, such as Harvard, MIT, Stanford, .., offer special programs to train financial engineers. As we move further into the 21st century, interdisciplinary and integrated knowledge is more important than ever. The need for FE is also stronger than ever. We welcome expertises from all parts of science and engineering to participate in this exciting and growing area.

The main objective of the EITA-B&M 2013 is to provide a platform for researchers, engineers, academicians as well as industrial professionals from all over the world to present their research results and development activities in Financial Engineering and Services. This conference provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences face to face, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration.

We are pleased to invite you to attend the EITA-B&M 2013 and submit proposals for papers, panels, demonstrations, and SIG discussions. The Conference Review Policy requires that each proposal will be peer-reviewed by for inclusion in the conference program, and CD-ROM proceedings.
