Getting to Campus

Princeton University is equidistant from New York and Philadelphia, and is easy to reach by public transportation or by car.

The closest and most conveniently accessed international airport is Newark Liberty International.

The University is easily accessible by train, which runs along the Northeast Corridor line and also stops at the Newark airport. Both Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains stop at Princeton Junction, and the south end of campus is a five-minute connecting train ride away.

Recorded driving directions are available for callers with touchtone phones at (609) 258-2222. Limited visitor parking is available in remote locations on campus.

Princeton Area Airports

Princeton can be reached via four international airports. The two closest and most easily accessed are:

The two large airports in New York City (east of Manhattan) take substantially more time to reach by car or public transportation from Princeton. They are:

Please note:

  • JFK airport, New York. It is 2 hours away, not recommended. .
  • Newark liberty airport, New Jersey. (We recommend this airport, you can take monorail from airport to train station, then buy ticket -about $15+ one way- to Princeton. You will then ride train to Princeton Junction and transfer a short train to get to Princeton University. Then walk or use a taxi to hotel.)
  • New Jersey Transit Train

As an alternative, you can take Olympic Airporter bus (call 1-800-385-4000 or 1.800-822-9797 or visit http://www.olympic-limo.com/ to book reservations online using a credit card.) Here is where and how to use it.

  • Philadelphia airport, Pennsylvania
  • From airport take R1 to 30th street station, then r7 to Trenton, then New Jersey transit to Princeton Junction, then to Princeton. Check out this site: http://www.septa.org/maps/click_map.html

However, if you don't want to transfer trains 3 times, a rental car is a better choice. And the route is not complex, just take 95 North into New Jersey (about 1 hour), take exit 7B and then 206 North into downtown Princeton (about 20 minutes).
