International life is characterized by a diverse cast. In addition to countries and their institutions, international organizations, multinational corporations, international NGOs and individuals are also involved.
As global and regional cooperation continues to strengthen, international organizations become a better way to collaborate and solve problems. A more effective form than through bilateral relations.
States create them to achieve certain goals. These goals can be maintaining peace and security (United Nations) or improving health cooperation (WHO), to name a few.
They are established by national will and are a permanent form of international cooperation. Its members must be states, but can also include other entities. An international organization has its own will within its competence, which is different from the individual will of the member states.
Other institutional forms of international cooperation, such as international non-governmental organizations, should be distinguished from international organizations.
