IP can include patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and other forms of creative expression that can be legally protected and exploited.

For nonprofit high-tech organizations (NPOs) like EITA, the most relevant IP protection methods include copyrights for software code and designs, trademarks for logos and brands, patents for unique technological innovations, and trade secrets for highly confidential technologies, while carefully considering the specific mission and use of the IP to ensure alignment with the nonprofit’s goals.
