- Overview

ASEAN, officially known as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, is a political and economic alliance of 10 member states in Southeast Asia that promotes intergovernmental cooperation and promotes economic, political, security, military, educational, and sociocultural integration between its member states and Asian countries Culture - Pacific Ocean. The confederation has a total area of 4,522,518 square kilometers (1,746,154 square miles) and an estimated total population of approximately 668 million people.

The bloc’s biggest success in recent years has been promoting economic integration among members. It also helped negotiate the RCEP, the world’s largest free trade agreement.

 

- ASEAN Member States

ASEAN is a 10-nation regional organisation made up of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

 

- The Main Goal of ASEAN

The main goal of ASEAN is to accelerate economic growth through social progress and cultural development. The secondary objective is to promote regional peace and stability based on the principles of the rule of law and the Charter of the United Nations. Along with some of the fastest growing economies in the world, ASEAN has expanded its goals beyond the economic and social sphere. In 2003, ASEAN embarked on a path similar to that of the EU, agreeing to establish an ASEAN Community consisting of three pillars: the ASEAN Security Community, the ASEAN Economic Community and the ASEAN Social and Cultural Community. The ten rice grains in the ASEAN flag and coat of arms represent the unity of the ten Southeast Asian countries.

 

- The Main International Partners of ASEAN

ASEAN regularly engages with other countries in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. As a major partner of the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Palestinian Authority, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Mercosur, the Community of Latin America and the Economic Cooperation Organization, ASEAN has a global network of alliances and dialogue partners, and is regarded by many as a global power and a hub for Asia-Pacific cooperation. Core alliance, and a prominent and influential organization. It is involved in numerous international affairs and maintains diplomatic missions around the world. The group's success has been a driving force behind some of the largest trade blocs in history, including APEC and RCEP.
